(November 24, 2016) Workshop: Transition to TEENAGE Years

Most parents are well aware of developmental milestones for babies, such as walking and talking, but development in older children and teenagers can be less familiar. On November 24, I will conduct a workshop at the Dunblaine school that will cover developmental milestones for older children and teenagers, including the following:

  • Foundations for development and why these skills are necessary for the more complex tasks required in the teenage years, such as successfully planning and carrying out projects at school, while participating in extracurricular activities.

  • Development of fine and visual motor skills, gross motor skills, play, and self-care, and how to promote development of these skills into later childhood and the teenage years.

  • How age appropriate chores can promote development. For example, setting the table requires the use of fine motor skills, visual perceptual skills, visual motor integration and motor planning.

  • Recommendations for how parents can promote development at home.

I look forward to seeing all of you there!
