Dear Parents,
I hope that the summer season has brought you some rest and relaxation! I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new families, and to those returning for another fantastic school year. Please note the following changes:
All families must now log into Dunblaine’s Website to access this year’s summer package. The package includes all applicable forms for 2017/18 school year (including class composition), so it’s extremely important that you do this as soon as possible. To find the package, please click here.
Secondly, I am pleased to announce that Ms Rodrigues is expecting a baby at the beginning of October, therefore, Ms McDonald will be taking over her class at that time. Both teachers will be in the class together, team teaching in the interim.
Thirdly, Ms Turner and Mrs. Griffin have switched roles as well as classrooms this year. Therefore, Mrs. Griffin will be teaching our primary classroom (grades 1 to 3) and Ms Turner will be teaching our junior level classroom (grades 4-6). Both are very excited about their new positions.
Finally, we have a new school-wide policy regarding personal devices that we hope will provide transparency, alleviate stress and assist focus during the school day. Please make sure to review it in the package and discuss it with your child if appropriate.
To kick off the start of the year:
All students will attend a full-day trip to Rouge Valley on Friday, Sept. 8.
We are also happy to be returning to skating at Forest Hill Arena to begin Sept. 13.
Hiking Club on Tuesday afternoons with Mr. Fekete and Mrs. Griffin will begin on Sept. 12. Please review the information about this program, and let me know if you are interested in your child attending.
Lastly, we are pleased to offer our Hot Lunch program to commence on Thursday Sept. 14. If you are interested, go to the website: www.kidskitchen.ca, Login and place your order/s. If you are new to the program, once on the website go to “Create Account.” Remember all orders must be placed no later then Wednesday at 10 am each week, and you can always order in advance.
Lastly, we cordially invite you to attend Dunblaine’s annual Social Event for parents and teachers to be held on Thursday September 14th @ 7:00 pm by our generous hosts, The Levenson-Cohen Family. This will be a time for getting to know each other, giving and receiving support to ensure a successful school year, sharing and having fun.
Please feel free to address any questions or concerns to me throughout the school year; open communication between families, students, and staff is integral to the success of Dunblaine. Enjoy the rest of the summer, and see you in September!
Sincerely,
Charleen Pryke, Principal of The Dunblaine School
